BOBCAT YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE

(1st through 6th Grade)

Youth Basketball is an instructional recreational league for boys and girls in 1st through 6th grade. This program will teach the fundamentals of this sport providing fun for each child with lots of playing time.  Registration deadline is Sunday, September 28th, 2025 to avoid a late registration fee. Late registrations must be completed in person or over the phone by contacting the Parks and Recreation office at 641-754-5715.

  • League is directed by former MCC Head Coach and current MHS Boys Assistant Coach Brynjar Brynjarsson
  • Practice will be
    • 1st & 2nd Grade - Monday nights, October 13 - November 3, 2025
    • 3rd & 4th Grade - Tuesday nights, October 14 - November 4, 2025
    • 5th & 6th Grade - Thursday nights, October 16 - November 6, 2025
  • Practices and games will be at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 10 West State Street, use the West entrance
  • Emphasis will be placed on fundamentals and learning the game
  • Game: Sundays, October 19 - November 9, 2025, one game each week scheduled between Noon - 5:00 pm
  • Volunteer Coaches are needed during weekly practice times and games to assist in implementing skills learned from Coach Brynjarsson and to organize players on the court. Coaches are asked to complete a Volunteer Coach Application
  • Teams: Participants will be assigned to a team
  • Gear: Must carry in clean dry shoes for each practice and game
  • Cost: $35 (includes a t-shirt) -- Deadline to register is Sunday, September 28, 2025 without a late registration fee
  • After Sunday, September 28, there will be a $15 late enrollment fee. Registration closed as of Friday, October 10th at 4:30pm.
  • League is open to Marshalltown and surrounding communities. (Participants may be outside the MHS School District)
  • Register Online early to ensure available space.
