City Elections
2023 City Election
The 2023 City/School Election will be held in November 2023. The City of Marshalltown will have open positions for 2nd Ward Councilor, 4th Ward Councilor, and At Large Councilor. Interested candidates must file completed paperwork with the City Clerk at 24 North Center Street.
Candidates must complete an Affidavit of Candidacy and Nomination Petition. There is a minimum number of 25 signatures from signers residing within the ward you are running for or within the city limits for Mayor or At Large. Nomination papers are available in the vestibule at City Hall, 24 N Center Street, the Marshall County Auditor’s Office, 2nd Floor of Great Western Bank, 11 North 1st Avenue, or online at the Secretary of State’s website: http://sos.iowa.gov/elections/electioninfo/CityElections.html or City of Marshalltown’s website: https://www.marshalltown-ia.gov/Faq.aspx?QID=146.
Voters can start requesting ballots to be mailed by using this link https://sos.iowa.gov/elections/pdf/absenteeballotapp.pdf. The last day to request an absentee ballot to be mailed is TBA. The last day for in-person absentee voting will be TBA, at 5 pm.
Polls will be open TBA from 7 am to 8 pm for voting. Poll locations will be the same as the general election.
