Child Safety Seat Program
The purpose of the program is to help reduce the incidence of the improper installation of car seats. Our certified Child Safety Seat Technicians offer free inspections to ensure proper installation and use of a child safety seat along with compliance with Iowa law.

Citizen Police Academy
During the ten-week program, the participants learn about several programs and divisions such as the K-9 Unit, precision driving, weapons, crime scene processing and evidence, traffic stops, building searches and much more.

Citizen Volunteer Program
The Marshalltown Police Citizen Volunteer program began in 2010 and has consistently maintained an average of 40 members who work various non-enforcement assignments within the department.

Coffee with a Cop
The Marshalltown Police Department Coffee with a Cop program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time.

Crime Stoppers
Marshall County Crime Stoppers program was started by a group of community volunteers interested in keeping our community safe. This program has the support of law enforcement countywide.

K-9 Unit
Police K-9 units are a valuable tool for the Marshalltown Police Department. K-9s are used for the detection and prevention of crime as well as the detection of illegal narcotics.

Ride-Along Program
This program allows civilian community members to ride with police personnel and observe 911 operations. It provides the opportunity for expanding understanding between the community and their police department.

Salvage Vehicle Inspections
Iowa law requires all vehicles designated “salvage” or vehicles that have a “salvage title” to be physically examined by a peace officer who has been certified by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy to conduct inspections before issuance of an Iowa vehicle registration.
