Public Records

The records section serves as the official repository for all criminal records and documents of the department. The records section is responsible for data entry, maintaining all police reports, arrest records and statistics. This section is also the point of contact for citizens and other agencies requesting records under Iowa’s open records laws. Records personnel provide quality customer service to all citizens and visitors seeking information or assistance.

  • Fee: $0.25 per printed page.
  • No-charge for an electronic copy.
  • Cash or check only.

Records requests are available on a walk-in basis during office hours. Email electronic requests to pdrecords@marshalltown-ia.gov. For questions regarding records, please call 641-754-5750.

Bike License: $3

These are available on a walk-in basis. The City of Marshalltown ordinance requires bicycles to be registered with the police department. These non-expiring licenses will be recorded in our records management system to assist with found bike incidents.

Civilian Fingerprinting: $20

Call 641.754.5730 to schedule an appointment.

Please bring your fingerprint card(s) and photo identification to your appointment. Must provide universally accepted photo ID (i.e.: state Driver’s License, State I.D., Military service I.D.). You will need to bring all the fingerprint forms with you for your particular needs. Please do not fill in the fingerprint cards prior to your arrival.
