Snow removal & potholes

pothole (2)

With a relatively mild start to the season, Mother Nature has recently reminded us it’s still winter in Iowa. As we make our way toward spring, your City snow removal crews ask the public’s cooperation on a few issues. First, keeping vehicles off the streets during plowing operations enables us to safely and efficiently remove snow and ice. When possible, avoid traveling until snow and ice control operations are complete. Less traffic expedites our operations to provide you safer driving conditions. And finally, please refrain from pushing snow from your property onto or across any street. This removes or covers up the de-icing materials we apply to the surface.  Everyone’s cooperation with these issues is GREATLY appreciated by us and better utilizes YOUR tax dollars.

As we get closer to warmer, spring temperatures, we’ll begin to see those pesky potholes develop. Our crews have started to fill them between snow events if the temperatures permit. When water flows or stands on the street surface from snow melt or spring rains for an extended period of time, the holes are sure to form. If you are aware of any potholes needing repaired, please call 641-844-1888 and leave a message with an address or approximate location and we’ll make them disappear.
