Marshalltown Fire Dept Responds to Residential Fires

PRESS RELEASE: 02/15/21

At 10:02 A.M. the Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a residential fire reported at 704 Union Street in Marshalltown. Upon arrival, fire department personnel found a small single-family house with light smoke issuing from the basement windows. Firefighters entered the structure and found a small fire in the basement that was quickly extinguished with a pressurized water can. Two people were at home during the time of the fire and escaped prior to the arrival of fire department personnel. 

Alliant Energy, Marshalltown Police, Marshalltown Public Works, and Unity Point EMS assisted at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Please contact the Marshalltown Fire Department with questions at 641-754-5751.


PRESS RELEASE: 02/15/21

At 12:08 P.M. the Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a residential fire reported at 308 Plaza Heights Road in Marshalltown. Upon arrival, firefighters found a 4-plex apartment building with smoke showing from the windows of the upper floor. The fire originated on the stovetop and extended to the cabinets above the stove. Firefighters entered the structure and found a small fire in the kitchen that was quickly extinguished. One person was at home during the time of the fire and escaped prior to the arrival of fire department personnel.
