552 households participated in the 2020 Community Survey either online or by mail, and the results are now in. The data is posted on the City's website (https://www.marshalltown-ia.gov/703/2020-Community-Survey), with a print version to be available in the near future. The City signed a contract with Polco to administer the National Community Survey in late August, with participants having time to respond until early November. 18% of those contacted participated, which is a common response rate for this type of survey. Part of the National Community Survey is the comparison with hundreds of other communities responses to see where Marshalltown ranks when compared.
"This is a lot of data, and there is still a lot that needs to be broken down. I have proposed creating a workgroup of those that are impacted by the data to distill it further and start to talk about what things mean," said Jessica Kinser, City Administrator. "The data is interesting and definitely identifies areas where we need to improve as a City but also as a community."
