[ARCHIVED] Lewis Murder Investigation Continues

On March 25, 2020, at approximately 9:20 p.m., the Marshalltown Police Department responded to the 400 block of Union Street after receiving reports of a shooting incident at this location. Upon arrival, officers found Johnqwez Deanthony Lewis (age 22) suffering from gunshot wounds. Johnqwez was critically injured and died at the scene. A second male, Devonte Allen Brooks (age 27), was also found at the scene with gunshot injuries. Devonte was not critically injured. This investigation is on-going.

The Marshalltown Police Department working in collaboration with Marshall County Crime Stoppers are currently offering a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the individual(s) responsible for this tragic incident. Johnqwez Lewis’ death and the injuries to Devonte Brooks were a senseless act of violence. As a community, we must come together and find those responsible.
