[ARCHIVED] Parks & Rec Receives Grant from Community Foundation of Marshall County

The Community Foundation of Marshall County (CFMC) is pleased to announce it has awarded its first ever CFMC Major Impact Grant, a $20,000 grant, to Marshalltown Parks and Recreation to support the Marshalltown Skate Park Upgrade of a Graffiti Wall and Pump Track.

The Parks & Recreation’s 2018-2028 Master Plan identified youth facilities as a major need in our community. The Marshalltown Skate Park Upgrade, along with the addition of numerous higher-level difficulty elements, a graffiti (street art) wall and the installation of a pump track will significantly increase enthusiasm and use of this facility for youth in Marshalltown.

“We are pleased to be able to support the Marshalltown Skate Park with our first ever Major Impact Grant”, said CFMC Board President Steve Troskey. “The Parks Dept. has proven they are committed to increasing recreation options for youth in the city and we are glad to partner with them on this new addition.”

The Community Foundation will hold the annual “CFMC Annual Grant Awards Ceremony” for the recipients of the CFMC Major Impact, Community, and Capacity Building Grants on Tuesday, March 27th at 5:30pm at the Fisher Community Center in Marshalltown, IA.

The Community Foundation for Marshall County (CFMC) is a growing affiliate of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines.  CFMC has invested over $1.2 million into Marshall County through their yearly grants.  With nearly 60 Endowments totaling $5 million, CFMC is focused on meeting the current critical needs of Marshall County while helping donors and non-profits invest in the future of Marshall County.
