On Monday, December 23, 2024, the Marshalltown Police Department began a credit card fraud investigation; at the time the initial report was taken, a credit card skimming device was suspected as being involved in this crime. On December 31, a credit card skimming device was successfully recovered from a gas pump located at the Casey’s on West Lincoln Way in
Marshalltown (1009 West Lincoln Way).
As of January 3, 2025, the Police Department has heard from over 30 victims who have reported credit card fraud on their accounts. Throughout the investigation multiple victims reported their cards to have been used at the Marshalltown Walmart (2802 S Center Street) and Git N Go (3302 S Center Street). Surveillance video was obtained during the investigation and suspects were developed.
On January 2 and January 3, 2025, the Marshalltown Police Department arrested the following subjects for their roles in this ongoing credit card fraud investigation.
Alieski Perez Hernandez, 38, of Florida was arrested for the following charges:
1. Identity Theft Under $1500 (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
2. Theft 3rd Degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor)

Yohannis Bacardi Bague, 30, of Missouri was arrested for the following charges:
1. Identity Theft over $10,000 (Class C Felony)
2. Theft 1st Degree (Class C Felony)
3. Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card over $10,000 (Class C Felony)

Oscar Rodriguez Alcaraz, 26, of Florida was arrested for the following charges:
1. Identity Theft over $10,000 (Class C Felony)
2. Theft 1st Degree (Class C Felony)
3. Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card over $10,000 (Class C Felony)
