Energy Drink Scam Alert

Scam-Alert-Graphic

SCAM ALERT

Criminals posing as employees of the Adrenaline energy drink company are contacting people about an energy drink auto wrap campaign. They promise money if you place an energy drink logo on your vehicle. They then send you a fake check to cash. They also ask for your personal identification information to include bank account information. Lastly, they ask you to send them money back to pay an installation fee. By the time the victims realize the fake check is bogus, they have already sent money and personal information back to the criminals.

Making money is hard. The promise of easy money is always a scam. Don't fall for it. If it sounds too good to be true, it always is too good to be true.

If you have been a victim of this scam, you can call the police department's non-emergency number to report these crimes. That number is 641.754.5725.

AUTHORITY: Michael W. Tupper, Chief of Police (mtupper@marshalltown-ia.gov or 641.754.5771)
