Mr. Perez has been taken to the Marshalltown Police Department for processing and will ultimately be taken to the Marshall County Jail. Mr. Perez has been charged with:

  2. Burglary 1st Degree
  3. Reckless Use of a Firearm Causing Bodily Injury

PEREZ, JAYCOB JONNIEL

Chief Michael W. Tupper stated, “I am proud of the extensive police work our police officers and detectives put into this investigation. This is an example of senseless violence that could have resulted in tragedy. What made this investigation even more concerning is that it involved several young people who continue to wander down a disturbing and dangerous path of violence. We remain concerned about a small group of juveniles and young adults who are more frequently turning to guns and violence to settle petty disputes. This is a dangerous game that we cannot and will tolerate in this community. I strongly urge all parents to talk to their sons and daughters about gun violence and the need to walk away from dangerous people and situations.”

This investigation is on-going. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Marshalltown Police Department at 641.754.5729. Tips may also be submitted anonymously by calling Marshall County Crime Stoppers at 641.753.1234 or via text by texting the word “marshall” followed by the tip to CRIMES (274637). Additionally, tips may be submitted online at www.marshallcountycs.com.

The Marshalltown Police Department has been assisted in this investigation by the Marshall County 911 Communications Center and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.

(A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.)
