On Thursday, September 7, 2023, the Marshalltown Police Department investigated six new burglary and theft crimes. These crimes occurred in the 1400 block of West Main Street, 1100 block of West Nevada Street, 1600 block of Summit Street, 300 block of North 16th Street (two incidents), and the 100 block of North 16th Street. Additional investigation tied these new cases to a burglary crime that occurred on September 5 in the 10 block of North 16th Street and one that occurred on July 14 in the 400 block of Melody Lane. Stolen property was recovered by police on September 7.
A 16-year-old male was taken into custody on September 7 in connection with these investigations. This juvenile was taken into custody for the below listed criminal offenses:
- Burglary 3rd Degree of a Vehicle
- Theft 3rd Degree – Possession of Stolen Property
- Minor Armed with a Dangerous Weapon
These investigations are on-going. The police department anticipates making additional arrests.
