On Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 7:13pm, law enforcement began an investigation into an allegation that an adult male was engaged in criminal sexual contact with an eleven-year-old female. Following an initial investigation that lasted multiple hours, and involved interviews of several people, the Marshalltown Police Department arrested Carlos Flores Mendiola, age 45. Mr. Flores Mendiola was arrested on July 23 at 2:55am. Mr. Flores Mendiola was charged with:
- Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse
- Indecent Contact with a Child
Following his arrest, Mr. Flores Mendiola was booked into the Marshall County Jail. This investigation remains active.
