[ARCHIVED] Marshalltown PD Investigates a Robbery Crime

On July 17, 2023, at approximately 10:11pm, Marshalltown Police Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of North 1st Street after receiving a report of a male who had been seriously assaulted and the suspect was fleeing the scene. Officers arrived on scene quickly and observed the suspect attempting to flee. Officers quickly apprehended the suspect, taking him into custody without further incident.

Investigation revealed, the victim is a 47-year-old Marshalltown man. The victim sustained significant injuries as a result of the assault which was observed by a witness. The victim was transported to Unity Point Health – Marshalltown by ambulance for treatment.
 
 Officers arrested:
 
 Alexander James Brenner, age 27, of Marshalltown. Mr. Brenner was charged with:
 
 • Robbery 1st Degree – Class “B” Felony
 • Willful Injury – Class “C” Felony
 • Public Intoxication – Simple Misdemeanor

BRENNER, ALEXANDER JAMES
 Mr. Brenner was transported to the Marshall County Jail and was held pending an initial court appearance.
