Press release – W State Street (N 3^rd St to west of N 1^st St) Closure Starting Tuesday, June 20^th, 2023

State Street Reconstruction project continues with the start of Stage 2.  

Stage 1 [which includes just west of N 1st Ave to just west of N 3rd Ave] will be wrapping up underground work in the next 2 weeks and entering the surfacing / pavement phase.   Work in this stage is anticipated to last another 2-3 months.

Stage 2 [which includes N 3^rd St to just west of N 1^st St] will be closed starting Tuesday, June 20^th, 2023.  Work will begin with pavement removals and underground utility work.   While this stage is anticipated to last 5 months, the intersection of N 3^rd St and W State St will be prioritized so it can be repaved / opened as soon as possible.

While both Stage 1 and Stage 2 are under construction starting Tuesday, June 20^th, the intersections with N 3^rd St, N 2^nd St, N 1^st Ave, and N 2^nd Ave will be closed.  State Street Intersections that remain open will include N 1^st St and N Center St.

Access to all businesses will continue to be made available through alleys.  Marshalltown Water Works office will continue to be closed to the public until further notice.

Please plan accordingly and use alternate routes.
