Beginning April 10th, 2023 and continuing into the summer, construction will be underway to line approximately 75,000 feet of sanitary sewer scattered around town.
Municipal Pipe Tool Company LLC (MPT) of Hudson, Iowa has been contracted by the City to install a cured in place pipe liner into the existing sewer main pipeline. This form of trenchless sewer rehabilitation is much quicker, safer, and is more cost effective than traditional open cut sewer replacement methods.
MPT will be providing a minimum of one-day notice to those businesses and residents impacted through in-person contact or notices dropped off in your mailbox or at your front door. While the work is being performed, the sanitary service lateral will be temporarily sealed off and it will be reopened after the liner is cured. This typically takes six hours from when MPT starts lining the pipe but can be longer due to the number of services we have to reopen on the pipe. MPT installs multiple liners a day so your start time may vary. If in doubt, please contact the crew members listed on your notice for questions about when you can use your water.
MPT asks that you do not flush toilets, take showers or baths, do laundry or dishes, or operate sump pumps which are connected to the sewer system on the date listed on your notice while work is occurring. If you do use your water, it will fill up your service line and it has the potential of backing up into your building.
Please plan ahead and be sure to run water in your plumbing to fill the traps. This is important to prevent sewer gases from entering your building at all times and may help minimize odors during this work.

Si usa su agua, llenará su línea de servicio y tiene el potencial de retroceder en su edificio.
