Marshalltown Police Department Announces Burglary Arrest - Public Assistance Requested

On Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 5:12am, the Marshalltown Police Department arrested Daniel Thomas Jefferson Jr., age 31 of Marshalltown. Mr. Jefferson was arrested in connection to a burglary that occurred in the 10 block of West Main Street. Officers arrested Mr. Jefferson while investigating a food truck burglary that was discovered behind Smoking G’s restaurant.

This investigation is on-going. Law enforcement suspects a second individual was involved with this crime. The Marshalltown Police Department is releasing a surveillance video which depicts a person law enforcement would like to identify and speak to. The video can be found on the Marshalltown Police Department Facebook page. If anyone in the public can help us identify this person, please call the police department at 641.754.5725.

Over the last few weeks, the police department has been investigating multiple burglary and theft crimes that have occurred in the central business district. It is possible some of these crimes are connected. Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to contact the Marshalltown Police Department by calling 641.754.5725. Additionally, tips may be submitted by calling Marshall County Crime Stoppers at 641.753.1234, or via text by texting the word “marshall” followed by the tip to CRIMES (274637), or online at www.marshallcountycs.com.  All tips are completely anonymous and could earn a reward of up to $1,000 if the tip results in an arrest.

Mr. Jefferson has been charged with:

  1. Burglary Warrant – State of Nebraska
  2. Possession of Burglar Tools
  3. Theft 5th Degree
  4. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  5. Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd Offense
  6. Burglary 3rd Degree
  7. Criminal Mischief 5th Degree
  8. Attempted Burglary 3rd Degree
