The City of Marshalltown is partnering with the Solid Waste Commission of Marshall County and Metro Hazardous Waste Drop-off to bring residents the opportunity to properly dispose of household hazardous waste. On Saturday, May 19th, from 8am-12pm, residents can bring materials to 1001 Woodland Street to be properly disposed of. Items from schools and businesses, including farms, will not be accepted.
Items that will be accepted include the following:
- Stain and varnish
- Paint remover and thinner
- Gasoline and kerosene
- Windshield washer solution
- Aerosol cleaners
- Drain and oven cleaners
- Metal polishes and rust removers
- Oil and lead based paint
- Ammonia based cleaners
- Rechargeable batteries
- Petroleum based adhesives
- Glues, caulks, contact cements, resins
- Fertilizers, pesticides, weed killers
Items not accepted are ammunition, explosives, asbestos, radioactive material, fire extinguishers, compressed gas cylinders. The following items are also not accepted at the drop-off on the 19th, but are accepted at the Metro Hazardous Waste Drop-off in Bondurant: latex pain, used motor oil, used oil filters, lead acid batteries, needles.
