[ARCHIVED] Police Make Arrests in BB Gun Vandalism Cases

MPD Patch

On January 13, 2022, the Marshalltown Police Department began taking reports of vandalism throughout town.   The information from each incident was consistent and quickly believed to be linked together.  Several houses, businesses, and other personal property had been shot with a BB gun.  The total damage was in excess of $10,000.

On January 18, 2022, the Marshalltown Police Department identified and located the vehicle involved in these incidents.  During that contact, three juvenile males were located inside the vehicle.  A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and a BB gun and large quantity of BB’s were recovered from the vehicle.

Further investigation identified four juvenile males that stole multiple BB guns from a local business.  The stolen BB guns were involved in the damage around Marshalltown. The four juvenile males have been charged with Criminal Mischief 1st and Theft 5th.  This case has been referred to Juvenile Court Services.

This incident remains under investigation. If anyone in the community has information regarding this investigation, they are asked to call the Marshalltown Police Department at 641-754-5725 or Marshall County Crime Stoppers at 641-753-1234.
