[ARCHIVED] City Announces Spring Clean-up Day

Clean up Map

The City of Marshalltown will hold a spring clean-up day on Saturday, May 19th, from 8-11:30am at the 101 Iowa Avenue West, in the parking lot of what used to be Econofoods.  Large dumpsters will be available for residents to drop off items that normally have to go to the landfill due to size or type.  Metal items will also be taken but will need to separated from other items.  Those bringing items should plan to unload their own vehicle.  Items that will NOT be accepted include tires, trees or other compost items, recyclables, regular household trash, hazardous wastes and appliances.

All household hazardous wastes, like cleaning products, batteries, and pesticides, will be accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste drop-off on May 19th, from 8am to 12pm at Marshalltown Water Pollution Control Plant at 1001 Woodland Street, east of Riverview Park.  This annual event provides a safe way for Marshall County residents to safely dispose of hazardous items around the house.  Call Metro Waste Hazardous Waste at 1-888-603-CREW with questions.

Residents can also take advantage of free appliance drop-off.  Gervich and Sons is accepting appliances free of charge until May 31st, at 901 East Nevada Street.  Call 641-753-3359 for more information.  TV’s, computer monitors, and water softeners will not be accepted.  Metal items can also be dropped off at Gervich and Sons during regular business hours year round in large dumpster near the entrance.

Contact the Marshall County Landfill 641-752-0646 for information about disposing of TV's, computer monitors and water softeners.
