Spring has almost arrived, meaning that Cleaniac and other groups around the community are coming together to pick-up trash and debris and keep Marshalltown looking clean.
Efforts kicked off with a partnership between the 13th Street District on Friday, April 13th. Volunteers and students and teachers at Franklin Elementary worked together to tackle the area circled on the map in the photo. The 13th Street District boasted of the effort on their Facebook page: "3 hours + 3 13th St. board members + 3 Franklin 4th grade classes and their teachers + 1 dedicated Cleaniac leader = this ENTIRE area of litter removal! Hey Marshalltown! We challenge you to do the same on your block! All it takes is a garage bag and a walk around your block or yard! #MyMarshalltown". Trails Inc. also took on a clean-up along the Iowa River Trail on April 13th, removing debris which have littered the trail bed for years.
