On Thursday, April 22, at approximately 12:14 p.m., first responders and law enforcement responded to the 100 block of North 2nd Street in Marshalltown to investigate a reported stabbing incident. Upon arrival, law enforcement personnel found a white-female (age 51) and a white-male (age 62) in a yard suffering from stab wounds. Both subjects were alert and able to communicate. They did however have significant wounds to their upper torsos. Law enforcement personnel also located a white-male (age 24) on the same scene with a minor injury. The 24-year-old male told public safety officers on scene that he stabbed at least one of the victims. This person was detained and was questioned in connection with this incident. All parties involved in this incident know each other.

All parties were transported to a medical facility for treatment and evaluation. All parties are safe and reported to be in stable condition. The names of the victims are not being released at this time pending family notifications.

This remains an active investigation. The Marshalltown Police Department has identified the person alleged to be responsible for these assaults. There is no danger to the public. Criminal charges are pending.
