On November 4, 2024, at 5:10 AM the Marshalltown Police Department responded to an alarm call at 50 Lafrentz Lane. When officers arrived, they observed the business had been broken into. Video surveillance of the suspect was obtained.
On November 25, 2024 at 3:36 AM the Marshalltown Police Department responded to an alarm call at 1116 E Nevada Street. Video surveillance showed the same suspect from the burglary on November 4 as well as a suspect vehicle. The suspect was not able to enter this store.
On November 29, 2024 at 2:29 AM the Marshalltown Police Department responded to an attempted burglary at 19 W Main Street. The reporting party advised the suspect vehicle was the same suspect vehicle from November 25.
On January 7, 2025 the Marshalltown Police Department responded to 107 E Meadow Lane for a burglary that had happened overnight where items were stolen.
Following an extensive investigation of multiple burglary incidents in Marshalltown as well as others in jurisdictions outside of Marshalltown, suspects were developed. On January 16, 2025 Law Enforcement Officers from several agencies executed search warrants at two different locations in Marshalltown relating to these burglaries. Matthew Lee Moore, 42, of Marshalltown was arrested on outstanding Tama County burglary warrants at that time. Moore is currently being held at the Tama County Jail.

- Burglary 3rd Degree (Class D Felony) 2 Counts
- Theft 3rd Degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
- Violation Sex Offender Registry (Aggravated Misdemeanor) 2 Counts
- Attempted Burglary 3rd Degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor) 2 Counts
- Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
- Possession Burglar Tools (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
- Criminal Mischief 4th Degree (Serious Misdemeanor) 2 Counts
- Possession of Methamphetamine (Serious Misdemeanor)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor)
