On April 30, 2018, Fontanini Machine & Tooling (411 S. 9th St) reported a burglary, which occurred over the prior weekend. Officers obtained surveillance video, which showed a male suspect enter the business on two separate occasions.
While attempting to identify the suspect, officers learned the burglary suspect has also committed a theft at Kwik Star (S. 6th St.) on April 13, 2018.
Using Crime Stopper tips and information from local businesses, the suspect was identified as Austin Moser of Marshalltown.
On May 3rd at 2:45 pm, officers contacted Moser at his residence. Upon interviewing Moser, officers learned Moser also stole a wallet from 19 W. Main St on April 30, 2018. Moser was taken into custody on the below charges and transported to the Marshall County Jail to await his initial court appearance on May 4, 2018.
More charges are expected.
The stolen laptop was recovered and returned to the owner.
Austin Moser (age 36) was charged with the following:
- Possession of a controlled substance (serious misdemeanor)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)
- Theft 3rd Degree-Kwik Star (aggravated misdemeanor)
- Theft 3rd Degree-19 W. Main St (aggravated misdemeanor)
- Burglary 2nd Degree-Fontanini Machine & Tooling (Class C Felony)
- Burglary 2nd Degree- Fontanini Machine & Tooling (Class C Felony)
