Emergency Situation Responses

Emergency Medical Response

During an emergency medical response, we respond with the hospital ambulance service to all medical calls within the city limits of Marshalltown.  

Structure Fires

In the event of a structure fire, Marshalltown Fire Department responds with one (1) Engine and one (1) Ladder to reported structure fires. In addition, the Central Iowa Health Care (CIHC) provides a standby ambulance and serves as the medical division of Incident Command and the Marshalltown Police Department provides traffic control and other services as needed with an automatic dispatch as a “full response.”

Automatic Fire Alarms

In the event of automatic fire alarms, we respond with one (1) Engine and one (1) Ladder.

Personal Injury Automobile Collisions

In the event of an auto collision with personal injuries, we respond to calls for all extrication needs in Marshall County with 3 personnel and a rescue pumper equipped with extrication tools.

Hazardous Materials Incidents

Marshalltown Fire Department responds to all initial calls for Haz-Mat within the City of Marshalltown. We function at the Operations level and can provide decon support to Des Moines Fire who provides Technician level services to Marshall County by contract.
